Greenwich, CT (May 14, 2012) – Sound Solar Systems, LLC, a clean energy integration and installation company based in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, has completed a commercial solar electric array on the Greenwich Racquet Club in Cos Cob, Connecticut. The project was funded in part by the Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority (CEFIA), which contributed approximately 45% of the total cost. The Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act also contributed 30% of the total cost with the cash in lieu of credit incentive. The 70 kW system is expected to supply approximately 90% of the total electric usage for the building, which has also done a lighting retrofit to further decrease its electricity demand.
“Sound Solar is very excited to have designed, constructed and connected this solar PV array right here in Greenwich,” said Tony Savino, principal of Sound Solar. “We are glad to see that solar is becoming a more viable option for businesses and we are proud to have drawn on our construction background to successfully implement this system seamlessly.”
“Greenwich Racquet Club is excited to support green energy initiatives in Connecticut,” according to Ricardo Leon, co-owner of the Greenwich Racquet Club. “The federal and state incentives provided to us for this project will allow us to recoup any costs within one year of installation and provide us with subsequent years of little to no cost for electricity. Andrew Lifshin from Sound Solar has been instrumental in guiding us through the complexities of financial benefits available through various federal and state programs. We are thrilled to be a leader in the effort to bring solar to Connecticut.”
Founded in 2008, on the platform of a construction company, Sound Solar Systems takes a project from beginning to end with a client, offering cost and a site evaluation, complete system design and construction, and assists the client through all financing and incentive processes. Sound Solar installs solar photovoltaic systems that produce electricity; solar thermal systems which produce hot water; wind power systems that generate electricity from the wind; and lighting retrofits that lessen clients’ energy demands from the grid.
